The world continues to be a wonderful and beautiful place, ready to be explored by adventurous people. Mapping the places you have visited, or to mark the places you have yet to see, is an exciting activity. There are many different ways of doing this but we, being avid travellers ourselves, figured there must be a more interesting way…
For many years, our company in the Netherlands has been specialising in printing on wood. Wouldn’t it be great to have your own wooden map of the world, with 100 free flag markers to mark the places you visited or intend to visit?
As this idea was a huge success in Holland, we want to share it with the rest of the world. After all, the world belongs to everyone, and every adventurous traveller should have the opportunity to order his own wooden map of the world!
We select our wood carefully and use only FSC-certified wood, which means wood that has been sourced in an environmentally-friendly, socially responsible manner. It is, however, of the best quality spruce with a minimal amount of knots and a beautiful flat structure.
The boards (10 cm wide and 18 mm thick) are planed at the sides and painted with a special 30Mu white matte paint. This base layer is transparent so that the wood structure remains visible. The layer is necessary in order to prevent warping of the wood.
Subsequently, the wood map is applied directly with water-based ink. The environmentally friendly ink is waterproof and colourfast.
The range of maps will be expanded. For instance, wooden maps of both individual countries and continents can soon be ordered at Woodmap.com.
Can’t wait to have your unique world printed on wood?
